MASN Hall of Fame and Circle of Excellence Scholarship
Each school/college of nursing is eligible to nominate two students for induction to the MASN Hall of Fame. All MASN Board members are automatically inducted. If a member of your SNA is on the MASN Board, two other members may be chosen. The nominees should be selected from the school’s current senior class by all SNA chapter members. Applicants will be anonymously presented to the scholarship selection committee which is comprised of external professionals in the field of healthcare. Winners will be announced at the Annual Convention during the opening ceremony. A thorough essay (see details below), and a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher signed by the Dean/director of Nursing is required to apply for Hall of Fame. The Circle of Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students in the Hall of Fame who exemplify the finest qualities of a future nurse. To apply for Circle of Excellence Scholarship, an applicant must turn in the requirements of the Hall of Fame award along with two letters of recommendation from faculty at the School of Nursing the applicant is attending along with a resume, all to be attached to application and sent no later than October 13, 2014 to: MASN Attn: Awards Committee 31 Woodgreen Place Madison, MS 39110 Describe in a minimum of a one-page essay how the applicant meets following the criteria and attach to the application:
Active Involvement in a local SNA chapter
Promotion of the image of nursing and the future of nursing
Assistance provided to classmates/colleagues in a professional manner
Outstanding commitment to community service.
Exemplification the art of caring in his or her personal and professional lives

“Breakthrough to Nursing Project of the Year” Scholarship
The “Breakthrough to Nursing Project of the Year” scholarship will be awarded to the chapter that has put forth the greatest effort to participate in the Breakthrough to Nursing project. Projects considered should have been completed in the time period between Convention 2013 to Convention 2014. School chapters should submit a PowerPoint presentation (no more than 20 slides) showing their participation in the project. Presentations should be creative and contain pictures and content that clearly shows the chapter’s involvement in the Breakthrough to Nursing project. Presentations will be viewed and voted on by the board prior to annual convention. The winning chapter will be announced at convention during the opening ceremony and awarded a $500 scholarship to be designated for a specific purpose by the end of the 2014 calendar year.
